The Department of Computer Science, Government Mohindra College, Patiala is providing education at the graduate and post graduate level. It is one of the top departments of the college. The department is fully equipped with modern technology, and technology savvy faculty. College is running Computer Courses under Regular (B.A., B.Sc.) and Self Finance Scheme (BCA, PGDCA, M.Sc. IT). The department is providing IT related services to the different departments of the college and office as per their need and requirements. The department has continuously been enriching students with educational, job oriented and the technical skills.

Academic Programmes Offered (UG/PG): Regular BA/ B.Sc. Non-Medical Computer Science & Self Finance Courses-BCA, PGDCA, and M.Sc.-IT. Apart from these course computer science subject is also being teaching in B.A.-Honours (Economics), B.SC(CSM).

Program Outcomes: On completion of these courses, the students will be able to:

  1. Have a clear understanding of fundaments of computers so as to apply it in real life problems. 2.  Develop an in depth knowledge of various motivational theories. 3. To develop skills to get employment in IT field.
  • Name of Program: Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Applications (PGDCA) and M.Sc.-IT

Program Outcomes: On completion of PGDCA and M.Sc. I.T, the students will be able to: 1. Have basic knowledge of computer hardware and software. 2. Understand business areas to which computers may be applied. 3. Develop the skills in communications, verbal and written which play an important part in business computing and information processing.

Career options: On completion of these courses in Computer Science, the students can Work in the IT sector as system engineer, software tester, junior programmer, web developer, system administrator, software developer etc. Banking Sectors. The students can Work in the IT sector as system engineer, software tester, junior programmer, web developer, system administrator, software developer etc. They can start their own business in web development and software development.  Students are able to use their knowledge to develop different web and windows based applications. Students can create database, websites and applications for their clients.  Students can also pursue the career of computer operators. Once students completed M.Sc.-IT degree, they may pursue a wide range of careers or pursue a doctoral degree. As a result of graduation, students may choose to work as research scientists.
