Department of Punjabi

The department of Punjabi came in to existence in the year 1875 and in 1949 they started Post Graduate classes. The post graduate department of Punjabi is one of the pioneer department of the Government Mohindra College, Patiala. It has produced a number of literary personalities and the present department is continuing its’ long established tradition of literary scholarship.

This course is an advanced level course for the students of Punjabi literature.  After the completion of this program, the students are able to:

–  Do school teaching after this program since it is the mother tongue of Punjab.

–  Being a qualifying paper, there is ample scope for teaching of Punjabi.

– Students can understand their cultural festivals and events in a better way after having a thorough knowledge of the language.
